All incoming music majors and minors will use computer notation and audio editing software beginning their first semester at Mizzou. If you are purchasing a new laptop, please see the following recommended specifications:

*Given its superior native support for low-latency audio recording and playback, MacBooks are strongly recommended for composition students, unless they already possess a newer Windows computer set up with powerful audio and graphics cards for gaming.

*Composition majors and students taking electronic music classes: The programs used in these courses require a more powerful computer than most general music courses. A MacBook Pro with the above specifications is recommended for students in this major.
