We are excited you have selected Mizzou as your university and the Discovery Center as your first academic home. As a student exploring majors, we offer you a broad range of degree programs.
You will work with academic advisors, career service professionals, and faculty to select an academic program that best fits your goals. You may choose to double major, or to add a minor or a certificate in a specific academic area to enhance your academic program.
Mizzou offers great flexibility that allows you to benefit from our diverse and comprehensive portfolio of academic programs. Explore possible degrees and careers before your first day of class through our “Find Your Major” site at majors.missouri.edu. This site shows you how majors, areas of interest, and career paths are linked together.
It is important to have access to information and computer technology to support your academic success at Mizzou. Although MU does not require you to have a computer, students with their own computers generally enjoy greater academic success.
As a student deciding on your major, you may have questions about what kind of computer technology would be ideal. This publication includes recommended hardware configurations that are useful for all students. We also strive to keep your costs as low as possible. TigerTech and Mizzou IT offer hardware and software at prices significantly below retail. TigerTech is located in the Mizzou Store and provides systems that are “MU Ready” for all areas and majors on campus.
Additionally, TigerTech offers computer purchase plans that can be divided across four semesters of your student support package. They also provide technology support and repair services to assist you throughout your academic career at Mizzou.
Please let me know what I can do to help you have a great experience at MU. I look forward to seeing you on campus and the many successes you will achieve as a Mizzou student and alum.
We are excited to welcome you to Mizzou. You have a vast array of exciting opportunities to support you as you pursue your goals and dreams.
